Truck Stuck!

Travels and Travel plansPosted by raredog.dk Tue, March 29, 2016 15:47:18

English:

It doesen’t seem to be raining very often here, but when it does, the streets get all muddy. We stopped at a town and saw a truck coming, buy as they tend to only pave the main road, and as it had rained the night before, the truck got stuck! After the locals had failed their attempts to get it free by laying stones under the wheels we offered to help. It took two cars and a pulley to finally get it out, but the driver was glad and people cheered :-)

Unfortunately we noticed afterwards that one of the brake lines was leaking a bit, and as there was a mechanic nearby and the labor is cheap we decided to let them fix it, although we are not really fond of people messing with our home!

It showed up that it was just a little corrosion around the end of the pipe, and therefore it wasn’t all tightened, but it took 3 mechanics 4 minutes to dismantle it, 2 minutes to clean it - and 4 hours to put it back on!

We were pretty much running out of patience and as the finally got the car back together and couldn’t figure out how to bleed the brake lines, we had enough! They charged us 350,- DH (35 EUR) but as it was not our fault that they was incapable of doing their job we ended up paying 200,- DH (20 EUR) and drove off, Heiki helped bleeding the brakes afterwards.

(a tire repair is 30,-DH and it is about 120,-DH to get all 4 brakes on a Landcruiser replaced, without parts)
